My Fourth Open Mic Night!!!!!

Hello everyone!!

As you all know, I thoroughly enjoy embarrassing myself in public, especially on stage, where people laugh and haggle me and there is a light shining on me that makes me look even whiter (I know, I didn’t know it was possible either!). I had not gone to open mic for the entire month of May, mostly because I was going crazy writing, solemnizing weddings (*wink* at Jenni and Greg - blog post to come), and doing things I didn’t have time to do while I was slaving away with my Master’s work. But, here I am again, safe and sound, and humiliating myself in front of people I don’t know and supportive friends at the good ole Triskel Tavern!

The first arrivals, also these guys liked my rap so, shout out to them and their other friends who showed up 5 or so minutes after the photo was taken!!!

It was actually a really great night, because one of my awesome co-workers Rebecca got up and performed stand up for the first time, and proved to be one of the only stand up comedians that has gone up at open mic to get a real round of applause, and real laughs! 

Then as usual we had fantastic artists like Sally singing improv about bikini waxes and teaching English in Spain. Great musicians like Woody, Rasmus, Taylor and countless others who are just truly amazing, and yours truly ranking close to the bottom of the watering hole.

So without further adieu, here are the two videos, the first one is the spoken word / poem “Pin Up” dedicated to Monika and a rap about my arthritis and constant feeling of being 85 inside, when I am clearly not quite that old, called “Blue and Green Pills”. The second video is a poem called “Vampire Hearts” dedicated to Guillaume and is a poem I wrote on my frantic frenzy of poetry writing last week. I truly hope you all enjoy them and then maybe I can embarrass myself some more in the future! 

Also, the shirt I'm wearing in the video was designed by Guillaume, if you want to check his artwork out his blog is El Gabacho.

This is the T-shirt design, you can't see it very well in the video, but I LOVE IT!!!

I tried to upload the videos to here, but it just wouldn't do it, or maybe it would and I am just an 85 year old lady who knows nothing about technology!!!! lol.
